Who We Are
Clarity Healthcare was founded on funding awarded to Preferred Family Healthcare in September of 2013.As its mission states, Preferred Family Healthcare continually strives to be a dynamic, caring organization united to assist others in achieving their potential. Its core competencies are based on over 33 years' experience providing behavioral health services. Preferred Family Healthcare is the largest provider of publicly funded substance abuse treatment services, as well as the largest provider of adult and adolescent substance abuse treatment services, in Missouri. In recent years, the agency also began to expand its comprehensive approach to behavioral health, by integrating services that focus on whole-person care. For example, Preferred Family Healthcare has been intimately involved in the development of the Healthcare Home Initiative in Missouri since October 2010, and was designated as a Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) affiliate Healthcare Home in January 2012 for Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center (CPRC) consumers. Preferred Family Healthcare has 36 locations throughout Missouri and Kansas; and, in 2012, the agency provided direct services to over 10,500 individuals and families. In September of 2013, Preferred Family Healthcare, Inc. received Health Center Program New Access Point (NAP) funding in the amount of $733,333 from the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to establish a health center in Hannibal, Missouri. Federal funding will provide approximately 33% of the total project cost, with the balance of funding contributed through non-federal resources. Clarity Healthcare will increase access to preventative and primary health care for underserved communities and vulnerable populations in a five county region of northeast Missouri. HHS received over 400 applicants for NAP funding and 32 were selected for an award. Under this initiative, HHS awarded over $67 million, $19 million of which was made available through the Affordable Care Act.
Clarity Healthcare joins the ranks of over 1,200 health centers nation-wide that operate close to 9,000 service delivery sites. Collectively, these centers provide services to over 21 million patients. Clarity Healthcare anticipates providing integrated behavioral health and primary care services to an additional 6,000 residents through its new health center. According to Michael Schwend, Preferred Family Healthcare's President, the agency anticipates improvement in patient outcomes, as well as an increase in the numbers of individuals screened and treated for chronic conditions.
..this access to care will give more people the peace of mind of knowing that healthcare will be there for them and their families when they need it.
